Charles Leclerc has revealed he will undergo further medical examinations before being cleared to race at the Spanish Grand Prix next weekend, following his heavy crash at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza.

The incident occurred on lap two as Charles Leclerc battled McLaren's Oscar Piastri for a podium spot. Losing the rear of his Ferrari through the final corner, the Monegasque slammed into the barriers with an impact of around 60G, forcing a red flag for barrier repairs.

Although he escaped without serious injury, Leclerc admitted to initial vision problems. "It was just the vision a little bit at first; the right eye was not showing me great vision. But now it's all good," he said. He also mentioned general soreness, which he deemed normal after such a crash.

Leclerc explained that the car felt unstable before the accident, with a sudden surge of power when he lifted off the throttle. "I didn't feel like the car was quite all right," he added.

Ferrari's Home Race Woes

The crash compounded a miserable weekend for Ferrari at Monza, where Lewis Hamilton and Leclerc also had a tense moment at the first chicane, forcing Hamilton wide and dropping him to 10th. With a new power unit introduced, expectations were high, but the team left empty-handed.

"It's very frustrating, but it's the way it is now," Leclerc said. "I cannot change the result, so I'll have to look forward and hopefully bounce back in Madrid." The additional checks will take place over the coming days to ensure he is fully fit for the Spanish Grand Prix.
