Ahead of the race weekend at Interlagos, Kimi Antonelli shared an emotional story behind his visit to the estate of Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna's family. The young Italian driver visited Fazenda Dois Lagos in Tatui on Tuesday, just two days after securing his maiden Formula 1 world championship. During this special visit, he was given a rare opportunity to tour the estate, go karting on the private track, and even ride in the Lotus 98T raced by Senna in 1986.

In an interview with Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 20-year-old admitted he was deeply moved by the warm reception from his childhood idol's family. Aside from a comprehensive tour of the grounds, the Senna family presented him with several meaningful gifts to take home as a lasting memory of the racing icon.
"It was very emotional," Antonelli explained. "The Senna family welcomed me with open arms, letting me tour the entire estate, go karting on the track there, and ride in his 1986 Lotus."

The Mercedes star driver further detailed the special memorabilia gifted to him by the family. "They gave me so many gifts: T-shirts, a replica of a statue in his honour that's on the circuit and even a brown leather jacket that's a replica of the one Ayrton always wore," he added.
This touching visit serves as part of Antonelli's tribute to the Brazilian driver this weekend, marking 35 years since his first home grand prix victory in 1991. Meanwhile on the track, having already clinched the drivers' crown, the Brackley-based squad is now hunting for the constructors' title while leading the standings with 630 points, well ahead of Ferrari in second place.
