The weekend at the Lusail International Circuit turned into a severe test for Jorge Martin after his ongoing wrist injury flared up during a crucial qualifying session. The factory Aprilia Racing rider could only manage 11th place on the starting grid as physical pain severely hampered his one-lap pace.
This setback comes as a blow following a promising opening day where the Spaniard comfortably secured a direct spot in Q2. However, team manager Paolo Bonora admitted that expectations must now be tempered as his rider's physical condition deteriorated significantly on Saturday.
"He did an unbelievable job yesterday, despite the pain and the fracture," Bonora stated regarding Friday's performance. "To be fully honest with you, today is a little bit worse than yesterday. He can feel pain in changing direction and even more pain during the hard braking phases. We have to be very realistic. The goal is to achieve the maximum he can, but it will be difficult, very difficult."

The physical limitations proved particularly punishing under heavy braking at the Qatari venue, leaving the championship contender visibly frustrated at the end of the session following a minor traffic incident involving Pedro Acosta.
With the squad relying heavily on pain management and anti-inflammatories to get through the weekend, the primary objective has shifted from fighting for victory to damage limitation as the team navigates through a demanding grand prix schedule.
