The tension in the world championship battle reaches a critical juncture this weekend as Jorge Martin has been officially declared fit to participate in the opening practice session of the Qatar Grand Prix at Lusail International Circuit. This crucial green light from medical officials keeps the Spanish rider's mathematical hopes alive as the season enters its final stretch.
The Aprilia rider suffered a broken wrist during last month's Australian Grand Prix, an injury severe enough to force him out of contention at the Malaysian Grand Prix last weekend. Following a brief recovery trip back to Spain, he is now ready to test his physical limits in the desert, though any participation beyond the initial practice remains subject to ongoing medical evaluations.
Entering the Lusail weekend with a 44-point deficit in the standings, Martin faces an uphill battle to prevent Marc Marquez from securing his eighth world title. The championship equation leaves little room for error, as his main rival has a realistic mathematical opportunity to wrap up the crown if he extends his championship advantage significantly over the course of the weekend.

Elsewhere in the paddock, the starting grid welcomes back two compatriots who have successfully passed their fitness assessments. Fermin Aldeguer returns to action for Gresini after recovering from a hand fracture sustained in Indonesia, while Trackhouse representative Raul Fernandez aims for a complete race weekend following his finger injury at the same Indonesian round.
However, the Gresini pit will temporarily miss Alex Marquez, who has opted to undergo corrective surgery on his right collarbone originally injured earlier in the season at Barcelona. Stepping into that side of the garage once again is Iker Lecuona, who previously filled in during the overseas triple-header rounds in Australia and Malaysia.
