Jamieson is gearing up for a challenging double mission at the Alice Springs Toyota Desert Nationals this weekend. He arrives as the two-time defending ANDRA Modified Bike champion, while also aiming to retain his NDRC Sportsman title. With back-to-back rounds scheduled for August 29-30, every point counts double.
The long trip from Casterton, Victoria, to Alice Springs Inland Dragway is no deterrent for Jamieson. For him, it's a logical step to strengthen his position in both championships. "Alice Springs is important – with the double-header, and big points on offer for both titles, it was a no-brainer to go up there," he said. He added, "It is definitely worth the trip, and hopefully we can make the most of it."
Despite being a first-timer at this venue, Jamieson feels no apprehension. Instead, he is excited about the track's reputation and the organizing team. "We have heard a lot about the venue and the team, and we are really looking forward to experiencing it," he said. "There aren’t any nerves, we will just do what we normally do – work our way through our processes, and do the best we can."

Competition in the Modified Bike class is expected to be fierce. Names like Bryan Finn and Derryn McGregor are ready to challenge. Last season, Finn and Jamieson were tied on points before the final, while McGregor was also firmly in the title fight. "There are a fair few handy riders going up this year, including Finn and McGregor. I am expecting it to be very competitive," Jamieson said.
Jamieson's success on the national scene, which began just four years ago, stems from a simple focus on consistency. "We are always doing the little things, focusing on the one-percenters, making sure everything is right. Dial-in racing is obviously about consistency, and that is what we work towards," he explained. He also thanked his family, fellow racers, Gavin Dohnt, and Vicky and Jerry from Casterton Top Shop for their support.
With two titles on the line, the weekend at Alice Springs will be a true test for Jamieson. Can he maintain his dominance? All will be answered when the lights go out.
