Jack Miller is no stranger to endurance racing. The MotoGP rider has competed in the Suzuka 8 Hours three times, and there's still one unique element of the event that he finds "kind of fun".

Miller made his Suzuka debut back in 2017 with the HARC-PRO Honda team, and only returned in the last two years with Yamaha's factory squad, finishing second on each occasion aboard the YZF-R1. Not a bad return for a rider who spends most of his time in the premier class.

Miller is used to racing in different disciplines, from Australian Superbike to motocross, but there's a particular aspect of endurance racing that appeals to him: the ability to quickly adapt to someone else's bike.

"I feel like I'm able to adapt pretty well to other guys' bikes," Miller told Crash.net ahead of the British MotoGP. "At the end of the day, at Suzuka you've kind of got to ride somebody else's bike – might not love it in certain spots, but you've got to wrap your head around what that setup does better."

For Miller, that's where the fun lies. "You've just got to get on the bike and ride it, which is kind of fun because it takes that whole element out of it where you're thinking 'should we do this or should we do that'. You're just focusing on the riding, what you can do as a rider. It's nice to step away and approach a race from a different angle," he added.

This year's Suzuka 8 Hours was hit by heavy rain, making the race feel even longer. "Eight hours in the rain was a long time, I can assure you," Miller said. "But I enjoyed it. Suzuka is an unreal event, especially to fly in, smash it out, and then get back to racing the following weekend. It was really cool."

Despite enjoying Suzuka, Miller has strong views on its suitability for MotoGP. "I love racing Suzuka, the Japanese fans, the organisation is fantastic. The track is phenomenal, especially on endurance bikes. But don't get me wrong, it's too small for MotoGP bikes. For endurance bikes, you can get away with it, and it's a lot of fun," he concluded.
