Red Bull Racing Formula 1 driver Isack Hadjar has openly called for cooling vests to be banned from the championship, insisting that the extreme physical challenge remains an essential part of motor racing. The topic resurfaced due to extreme heat and humidity, sparking mixed feedback from drivers regarding the implementation and effectiveness of the equipment.
The cooling system works by pumping cool liquid around the body through tubes in a fireproof top worn underneath the race suit. However, as the cockpit heats up, the liquid inside the tubes also warms up. When asked about his stance amidst differing grid views, Isack Hadjar was clear that artificial cooling aids have no place in Formula 1.
"I think it should be banned. Because it's supposed to be tough," the Red Bull Racing driver explained to Motorsport.com and other media outlets.

Hadjar's teammate, four-time champion Max Verstappen, echoed similar sentiments, claiming the cooling vest was unnecessary and stating he would not use it even if it remained functional throughout an entire grand prix distance.
"For me it's not needed," the Dutchman said. "Yes, it's hot, but it's not a sauna, and with this cooling vest you have these stupid cables in your car, so it's just limiting your movement as well."
As reported by Motorsport.com, Max Verstappen added further skepticism regarding the longevity of the technology. "I don't need it, even if it would work for one and a half hours, like cool, cool, I don't need it, but it doesn't work anyway for one and a half hours. I don't think it has worked for one and a half hours in any category," he stated.

Under current regulations, if a heat hazard is officially declared, teams and drivers retain the option to wear their own cooling vest systems or carry equivalent ballast to ensure there is no weight disadvantage for those utilizing the cooling equipment during events.
