The preparation of the Shell V-Power Racing Team ahead of the prestigious Repco Bathurst 1000 has hit a major setback after their key race engineer was confirmed unable to attend the event. The absence of this vital figure in the garage certainly poses a unique challenge to the squad's strategy ahead of the grueling race weekend at the Mount Panorama Circuit.
This confirmation was announced directly by the team, confirming that Car 17 race engineer George Commins must step aside after sustaining injuries in a mountain biking accident prior to the race weekend. Losing such a central figure in radio communications and vehicle setup is undoubtedly a heavy blow to the performance of Brodie Kostecki and his co-driver.
In an official statement released by the team, the difficult situation forcing them to make a sudden shake-up in operational leadership was detailed. "Car 17 race engineer George Commins will miss the Repco Bathurst 1000 after sustaining injuries in a mountain biking accident prior to the race weekend," the team said in a statement.

To fill the critical void, the team management acted swiftly by appointing an experienced figure to take over technical control on the pit wall. Team manager Tom Moore will step in to take over race engineer duties for Brodie Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood at Mount Panorama while George recuperates at home.
As reported by Speedcafe, this unfortunate incident forces the Repco Supercars Championship-winning squad to adapt quickly under the intense pressure of an endurance race weekend. Everyone within the garage also extended their full support for a swift recovery so their lead engineer can return to the competitive fold soon.
