Instead of pulling over, Hamilton attempted to nurse his machinery back to the pitlane, leaving a trail of debris. This led to a tense radio exchange with his race engineer, Carlo Santi, who repeatedly urged Hamilton to stop in a safe place. Hamilton eventually stopped on the side of the track at the exit of Turn 14.
Fan reactions were mixed. Many criticized Hamilton's decision as risky and potentially penalty-inducing. One Reddit user commented, "Yeaaaahhhh he’s getting that penalty lol." Another added, "Lewis, when you get told to stop the car, just stop the car. Way too risky for penalties lol."

With limited time remaining, Hamilton must quickly move on and focus on qualifying. Nevertheless, this mistake could serve as a valuable lesson for the veteran driver.
