Genesis Magma Keeps Unchanged WEC Driver Line-up for 2027

Looking ahead to the 2027 FIA World Endurance Championship season, Genesis Magma Racing has officially confirmed an entirely unchanged driver roster. This strategic decision follows the contract extension announcement of Dani Juncadella the previous week, which successfully completed the team's six-driver line-up announced during the 6 Hours of Barcelona.

The solid line-up entrusted to pilot the GMR-001 hypercar once again features Dani Juncadella, Paul-Loup Chatin, Pipo Derani, Mathieu Jaminet, Mathys Jaubert, and Andre Lotterer. The team management considers stability and continuity as crucial pillars in building sporting achievements while maximizing the technical development phase of their hypercar on the global racing stage.

This emphasis on stability was highlighted directly by Genesis Magma Racing Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul, who views that keeping the same squad behind the wheel delivers an immediate impact on telemetry data collection. The drivers are deemed to have built valuable knowledge of the GMR-001's characteristics and forged strong working relationships with the engineering crew.

"Continuity is essential at this stage of our programme. Our drivers have built valuable knowledge of the GMR-001 Hypercar and strong working relationships with our technical team," Cyril Abiteboul stated. He added that retaining the same line-up allows the outfit to carry this experience and team spirit into 2027 to efficiently chase the target of scoring points with both cars at every race.

Throughout their inaugural debut season in the FIA WEC, the factory-backed squad immediately showcased fierce competitiveness right from the opening round at Imola. Car #17 even secured the programme's first-ever championship points during its second outing at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, before delivering their best result to date by finishing seventh at Lone Star Le Mans.
