Genesis Confirms Unchanged WEC 2027 Driver Lineup for Maximum Stability

Genesis has enjoyed an encouraging debut season in the World Endurance Championship, highlighted by their maiden championship points and a breakthrough pole position during the season finale at the 6 Hours of Barcelona. Building upon this momentum, the Korean manufacturer has officially confirmed an unchanged driver lineup for the upcoming 2027 campaign.

Following the earlier confirmation of Daniel Juncadella in Spain, the team announced that all drivers who competed in the 2026 season will return next year. The roster features Paul-Loup Chatin, Pipo Derani, Mathieu Jaminet, Mathys Jaubert, and Andre Lotterer, alongside Juncadella, ensuring total continuity within the endurance program.

This decisive approach is rooted in both satisfying on-track performances and the necessity to maintain stability for an expanding project. Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul emphasized that keeping the same personnel is vital for the development phase of the GMR-001 prototype.

“Continuity is essential at this stage of the program. The drivers have accumulated valuable knowledge of the GMR-001 and built strong relationships with the technical group,” stated Abiteboul, noting that retaining the lineup allows them to carry this expertise directly into 2027.

Abiteboul further highlighted that the strategy aims to develop the car efficiently and take further steps forward toward the ultimate goal of securing points with both cars at every single race weekend throughout the season.

Genesis Sporting Director Gabriele Tarquini echoed these sentiments, stressing that the drivers' deep understanding of the car and strong team chemistry will pay dividends. The pole position in Barcelona served as a major milestone proving their rapid growth.

“Our drivers know the car, the working method, and the aspects we need to improve. Moreover, they have developed a very strong relationship with the whole team,” Tarquini concluded, expressing full confidence in the group's potential for the future.
