MotoGP star Francesco Bagnaia has revealed that riders were never asked for their opinion regarding the cancellation of the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island. Normally, competitors expect to be consulted on sketchy track conditions whenever a race faces potential delays or complete cancellation due to safety concerns.
However, the premier class race at the iconic Australian venue was called off primarily due to poor visibility that grounded the medical helicopters, rather than surface conditions alone. Consequently, the reigning star admitted that riders simply had to accept the final ruling handed down by race management without any prior consultation.
"No," Ducati Lenovo Team rider Bagnaia told TNT Sports when asked if the competitors had a say. "But in these kind of situations we need to respect the decisions of the management." He added that he personally would have preferred to race despite the tricky and freezing conditions.

Expressing his frustration over missing the final showdown at the historic track, the Italian rider noted that the grid had previously competed under far worse circumstances. He emphasized how disappointing it was to spend the entire Sunday trapped inside the garage instead of battling it out on track.
"It's a shame to have this kind of Sunday, remain in the garage in a track like this, the last time," Bagnaia said. Dilansir dari Crash.net, similar disappointment was shared by local talent Senna Agius regarding the unfortunate send-off for the beloved Australian circuit.
