Fermin Aldeguer has seen his 2026 MotoGP weekend at the Mandalika Grand Prix come to a premature end after sustaining a hand fracture during Sunday's main race. The defending Mandalika winner suffered a heavy crash at Turn 16 on the opening lap just moments after showcasing a strong start that propelled him from sixth to fourth position.

The unfortunate incident marked Fermin Aldeguer's fourth crash of the race weekend. While he managed to escape unscathed from his previous off-track excursions, Sunday afternoon proved unforgiving, leaving the young Spaniard with structural damage to his right hand requiring immediate surgical intervention.

A formal medical update released by the Gresini Ducati team confirmed the severity of the injury following thorough medical checks at the circuit medical center. The team statement outlined the exact nature of the trauma and the immediate logistical steps for his recovery process.

This latest setback compounds a physically punishing 2026 campaign for Fermin Aldeguer, marking his third major injury of the year. He previously missed pre-season testing and the opening round in Thailand due to a fractured femur, before enduring a three-race absence following a vertebra fracture at Assen earlier in the season.

Currently sitting tenth in the riders' world championship standings ahead of his future switch to VR46 Ducati, the young rider now faces a crucial recovery window with one weekend off before the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island approaches.
