Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds Extends Fresh Gen4 Test Invite to Max Verstappen

Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds has reiterated his strong desire to get Max Verstappen behind the wheel of the championship's upcoming high-powered electric race car as preparations for the new technical era continue to accelerate.

While formal discussions between the series management and the reigning four-time Formula 1 world champion have not yet taken place, the executive emphasized that the feedback from the Red Bull Racing star would provide invaluable technical insights.

The revolutionary Gen4 machine features permanent all-wheel drive, a staggering 450kW of standard race power, and an explosive 600kW output available during Attack Mode deployment.

Reflecting on Motorsport.com reports, Jeff Dodds highlighted the broader motorsport ecosystem built by the Dutch driver, ranging from sim-racing initiatives to driver development academies.

"No, we haven’t talked to him more about the car," Dodds told RacingNews365 regarding potential crossover scenarios in the electric racing series.

"I know he’s very focused, delighted to see him re-sign with Red Bull for the long term. And obviously, we know the team there really well, and I think they’re doing a really good job."

"But I’d still love to see Max in this car, partly because I just really value his insight. So I’d love him to drive the car to be able to give us real feedback, real insight into what he thinks of it."

Looking ahead to the 2027 calendar, Formula E is scheduled to host its maiden double-header event in the Netherlands at Zandvoort, creating a natural talking point regarding a potential home appearance.

Although series organizers remained tight-lipped on whether a definitive test deal will materialize, anticipation surrounding the driver market impact of the Gen4 platform remains exceptionally high.
