FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has delivered firm assurances regarding the staging of the final two Formula 1 grands prix scheduled for November 29 and December 6. Despite security concerns having already forced significant calendar alterations earlier this year, the governing body remains fully confident in the current stability of the Gulf region.

Recent security incidents, including attacks on commercial shipping near the Strait of Hormuz alongside strikes in Saudi Arabia, had justifiably amplified anxiety regarding international travel logistics and overall safety for the world championship's travelling personnel.

Speaking to reporters following the inauguration of the FIA’s new Remote Operations Centre at Biggin Hill in the UK, Ben Sulayem expressed steadfast confidence while maintaining a realistic outlook on shifting geopolitical circumstances.

"But does this say that there is nothing going to happen? I cannot predict with this. I can only tell you today that there is nothing and the two races are going to happen," he stated. To reinforce his position, the FIA leader drew heavily upon his own personal ties to the region where his immediate family resides.

"One thing I would say, I have my children there – you think I would leave them there, and I’m here now with you? You have to be sensible in this and saying, ‘are we going to have an issue?’ What you read in the media is actually different than we have there. We read and we see the TV, we don’t have that, really. Otherwise, why will I stay there, you know? Why would I leave my family?" he explained.

Despite expressing clear optimism, prudent contingency planning remains active within the organization. The FIA has outlined operational backups in the event that sudden government travel restrictions impede key officials from reaching either grand prix venue.

Furthermore, Imola has been formally designated as a viable replacement circuit to host the season finale should external pressures force a complete abandonment of the current itinerary. "Of course, the FIA is always ready. I told them to have another team ready from the FIA if there was nothing going on. But maybe some of the governments say, you cannot travel – so what do we do?" he noted.

Concluding his remarks, Ben Sulayem reiterated that human safety will forever supersede calendar continuity under any circumstances. F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali had previously echoed identical sentiments, affirming that the organization is fully dedicated to successfully concluding the championship at its intended destinations.
