Charles Leclerc saw his Italian Grand Prix come to a premature end after a heavy crash in the early laps at Monza, triggering a red flag. The Monegasque driver was fighting Oscar Piastri for fourth place when he lost control exiting the final corner.

After attempting to correct the slide, his car snapped the other way and ploughed through the gravel trap before making violent contact with the barrier. Fortunately, the 28-year-old was able to climb out unassisted and sat behind the barrier before being walked to the medical car by doctors.

Strategic Dilemma Amid Race Pressure

The incident occurred just minutes after teammate Lewis Hamilton voiced his displeasure over Leclerc's defensive driving into Turn 1. Hamilton felt he was pushed wide as they ran side-by-side, causing the seven-time champion to drop down the order.

Red Flag and Race Impact

Race control deployed the red flag to allow the car to be removed and barriers repaired. This incident has significantly reshaped the race dynamics, opening up new strategic opportunities for other teams in the remaining laps.

With Leclerc out, Ferrari has lost a key weapon in the fight at the front. The midfield battle is now more open, while other factory teams look to capitalize on the situation to improve their championship standings.
