Thrilling action unfolded on the iconic Italian asphalt roads as Fabio Andolfi partnered with co-driver Marco Menchini to secure a brilliant victory at the modern-car event of the 2026 Rallye Sanremo. Piloting the formidable Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale, the Italian-Swiss crew delivered a flawless performance through the demanding routes, claiming top honors in a rally serving as part of both the Italian championship and the European Rally Trophy.

The home contingent's dominance was further underlined as Roberto Dapra alongside co-driver Luca Gugliemetti finished a close second, trailing by just 4.7 seconds behind the wheel of a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2. Meanwhile, the all-Italian pairing of Simone Campedelli and Tania Canton rounded out the overall podium in third place aboard a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, finishing 6.1 seconds adrift from the winner.

Attention was also firmly fixed on the contingent of Finnish drivers and co-drivers participating in the event. Lauri Joona paired with co-driver Antti Linnaketo emerged as the highest-placed Finnish driver at the finish line, taking seventh overall in their Skoda Fabia RS Rally2.

An impressive display came from Finnish co-driver Janni Hussi, who teamed up with promising young Estonian driver Jaspar Vaher. Driving a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 under the Toyota young driver development programme, the cross-border pairing outperformed expectations to finish one spot higher in sixth. Sanremo marked the second rally where Hussi served as Vaher's co-driver, continuing the rapid rise of the 19-year-old Estonian who made history as the first non-Japanese driver selected for the manufacturer's development scheme after winning the Jyvaskyla round.

The competitive top ten order was rounded out by more familiar names in the development ranks. Takumi Matsushita partnered with Pekka Kelander brought their Toyota home in ninth position. Veteran competitor Heikki Kovalainen alongside Patric Ohman finished tenth in a Citroen C3 Rally2, while Shotaro Goto and Jussi Lindberg completed the points-paying and lower order finishes in 13th place.
