Within 72 hours of Formula 1 revealing a decade-long deal to race in Africa, footage from a user-created onboard camera recording of Rwanda’s future grand prix venue began circulating online. Modder Nukedrop successfully brought the ambitious project to life inside a popular racing simulation.
The mod was built within roughly 24 hours using the single preview image released by F1. The creator placed the circuit by matching the airport in the background of the render to satellite imagery, utilizing real elevation data for the surrounding landscape to establish the virtual track layout.
The simulation features a Ferrari car navigating beneath a bridge and across multi-hued kerbing. Although it involves educated guesses about scale and hidden details since the official layout is yet to be fully published, the community response has been immense.

The actual physical circuit is being developed by WurzDesign in collaboration with Tilke Engineering in Bugesera, roughly 40km south of Kigali. The real layout will feature 17 corners, running anti-clockwise through elevated terrain with a high-speed straight exceeding 1km.
This fan-made simulation offers an exciting early glimpse into what an African Grand Prix cockpit view could feel like. Read our in-depth analysis and check out the latest motorsport news right here.
