The prestigious season-ending road racing spectacle, the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix, always delivers intense drama even before the bikes hit the tarmac of the daunting Guia Circuit. Intensive preparation was mandatory for Austrian rider Julian Trummer, who nearly missed out on the trip due to internal complications with his previous squad ahead of the 58th edition of this iconic event.
Having competed fiercely at the North West 200 and the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy, Trummer successfully fulfilled all strict criteria to secure a coveted official invitation from the organizers. However, internal dynamics within his former setup meant that neither side shared any mutual interest in tackling the demanding streets of Macau together.
Speaking exclusively to Speedweek, the 35-year-old Austrian—who is also expecting to become a father in the coming days—unveiled the crucial turning point of his racing campaign. Trummer initially approached Rico Penzkofer for assistance before an intriguing proposition from Stefan Kuhn completely altered his racing schedule for the remainder of the year.

Although famously known for his unwavering loyalty toward teams and personal sponsors, the sudden dilemma forced him into making a pragmatic choice regarding his career. Fortunately, his previous connections showed complete understanding of the urgent situation, lifting a massive burden off the shoulders of the seasoned road racer.
Interestingly, the RVS Motorsport garage will be spearheaded by Erno Kostamo acting as the team boss for Trummer. The Finnish rider, who famously conquered Macau in 2022, remains sidelined from active competition due to lingering effects from a heavy crash at the Tourist Trophy, but his wealth of knowledge will now directly benefit Trummer aboard a potent BMW M1000RR.
