The dramatic opening race at Sandound saw Will Brown face a bitter disappointment after costly driving errors completely derailed his promising run. Having fought his way to the front on Lap 14 during the opening cycle of pit stops alongside Brodie Kostecki, the Triple Eight driver looked poised for a strong result before everything unraveled in the second half of the event.

Defending the lead following a Lap 20 restart, he absorbed immense pressure from his fierce rivals for nearly 15 laps while managing the gap at the front. However, the resistance finally broke on Lap 36 when his main challenger executed a decisive overtaking maneuver heading into Turn 1.

Desperate to retaliate at Turn 4, he locked his rear wheels and spun out spectacularly, stalling his car and leaving him stranded as the rest of the field roared past. Although a subsequent Safety Car neutralized the gap and bunched the pack back together, any hopes of a remarkable comeback were immediately dashed when he collided with Cameron Hill.

The avoidable collision earned him a post-race 15-second time penalty, dropping his final classification from 18th down to 20th place. Reflecting on the tumultuous afternoon, he was brutally honest about letting his competitive instincts override strategic patience during the heat of the battle.

He offered a sincere apology to his team, management, and fans watching from home, admitting that the car lacked the genuine pace needed to match the front-runners cleanly. Instead of settling to fight another day, raw ambition took over his decision-making process under intense pressure.

The disastrous outcome leaves him facing a massive uphill battle in the championship standings, currently sitting 88 points outside the crucial cut-off line. With immense pressure mounting ahead of the next sessions, the team must urgently find performance solutions to salvage their championship campaign.
