In a major strategic U-turn for their premier class project, Diogo Moreira has been officially promoted to the factory squad for the upcoming 2027 season. This significant shake-up alters the original lineup plans announced earlier by the Japanese manufacturer regarding their future structure in the paddock.
The management initially confirmed the signing of young star David Alonso to their premier class setup, though the exact team assignment was kept under wraps following an impressive rookie campaign by the Brazilian rider currently racing in independent colors.
Moreira has consistently fought to establish himself as the benchmark rider aboard the RC213V machinery ever since his breakthrough performance inside the top ten at Barcelona. His stellar campaign reached a high point when he clinched a memorable sprint podium appearance on home soil for the manufacturer at Motegi.

Meanwhile, his contemporary has continued to display strong pace in the intermediate category, despite slipping away from the ultimate title fight against the frontrunners in recent months. Nevertheless, the Colombian prospect will now take his next career steps within the LCR structure.
Expressing his utmost delight over the promotion, the newly appointed factory rider shared his thoughts in an official team statement regarding the dream opportunity. "It is a fantastic feeling to arrive to the factory Honda HRC team in MotoGP, it is something that every rider dreams of when they are young," he stated.
He extended his gratitude to the key decision-makers who believed in his potential to lead the squad forward into the next regulatory era. "I want to say thank you to everyone in Honda HRC for putting their faith in me and making the next step in this project," he added.
Reflecting on his rapid learning curve and future prospects, he also acknowledged the vital support received from his current crew. "Of course, I must also say thank you to everyone in LCR who have helped me in my adaptation to MotoGP – the whole team has been crucial in this development. I am looking forward to next year and to helping Honda HRC return to where they must be," he concluded.
