A high-speed crash overshadowed the GT4 racing action at Sandown when Shearer was forced out of contention following a violent collision during the early stages of the opening race. The fierce battle for a top-five finish turned into a disaster at the end of the fast back straight, resulting in severe impacts against the barriers.
The incident unfolded as Shearer engaged in a position battle with Cody Burcher aboard the #118 Ford Mustang. Wheel-to-wheel contact sent Shearer off the road at extreme speed, sliding through the run-off area at Turn 6 before slamming heavily into the tyre wall, rendering the car beyond immediate repair and forcing a withdrawal from Sunday's scheduled races.
The physical toll on the driver was significant, with the heavy impact causing a brief blackout and subsequent concussion symptoms that required careful medical monitoring throughout the remainder of the weekend.

"I was knocked out in the car for about five seconds," Shearer revealed during the broadcast interview. "[I have] a concussion, and was having nightmares last night, but I’m feeling ok, the body’s ok and everything’s intact so I’m sure I’ll recover."
Frustration peaked due to the nature of the maneuver, given that both competitors were fighting in entirely different championship categories, with Burcher competing in the Silver-Am class alongside Dean Campbell while Shearer contested the outright Silver Cup.
"I gave Cody a bit of a gap into Turn 4 and he went past me on the straight," Shearer explained regarding the buildup to the crash. "Going into the braking zone I just saw him moving across on me and pushed me into the grass, and I was max power on the brakes and there was just nowhere for me to go."
Reflecting on the situation via social media, the aggrieved driver emphasized that multi-class regulations require absolute mutual respect among all competitors on the asphalt to prevent race-ruining incidents.
"Multi-class racing only works if everyone respects the cars around them. A drive-through penalty for that doesn’t come close to matching the damage done," the post stated. Despite the setback bringing financial and logistical hurdles for upcoming seasons, appreciation was expressed toward the loyal fans who attended the event.
