What was expected to be a clean battle at the front quickly turned into heart-stopping drama as Johnson suffered a massive crash that sent his machine climbing over the track barriers. Starting from the front row alongside newly crowned champion Jett Murray, the field plunged into immediate warfare as the race got underway.

Jett Murray expertly navigated the opening corner to retain the lead, while Johnson fought tooth and nail to defend his runner-up spot amid a chaotic midfield scramble. The tension boiled over when Johnson went wheel-to-wheel with Miedecke through the early sequence of turns.

A sudden contact entering the third corner sent the McLaren spinning off the asphalt and into a violent impact with the tire wall. The sheer momentum carried the car up and over the barrier, punching a glaring hole through the corrugated fence behind it.

Miedecke managed to limp his battered vehicle back to the pit lane nursing a punctured front-right tire and extensive body damage, prompting race control to immediately deploy the red flag.

Medical personnel rushed to the scene where Johnson emerged from the wreckage remarkably unscathed. The opening lap melee also caught out other front-runners, including Am Cup contenders Ryan Sorensen and Glenn Walker, turning the early race stages into a chaotic spectacle.
