Veteran motorsport journalist Dennis Noyes has launched a scathing critique regarding the commercial management and strategic direction under the new promotional era. Speaking on his podcast Cinta Americana, he dissected the mounting tensions between premier class competitors and the championship promoters.
The upcoming structural overhaul scheduled for the 2027 campaign has triggered severe discontent among riders due to a blatant lack of prior consultation and transparent communication from the decision-makers.
“Estamos ya en una nueva dimension con Liberty Media, cuyas intenciones son convertir esto en algo tan grande como la Formula 1,” Noyes stated, highlighting the American corporation's aggressive push to mirror the business model of four-wheel racing.
While acknowledging the commercial upside, the veteran analyst warned that sidelining the main protagonists could backfire catastrophically. The breaking point arrived when competitors discovered major format modifications moments before public press releases.
“Se estan olvidando un poco de los pilotos. En Formula 1 hay una asociacion de pilotos que tiene un sitio en la mesa. Y nuestros pilotos estan indignados por este cambio de formato para el ano que viene, no tanto por el formato en si, sino por el hecho de que se enteraron cinco minutos antes de la prensa,” noted Marc Marquez and his peers, echoing the sentiment shared widely across the grid.
The controversy deepened after management claimed teams and riders approved the changes, a narrative swiftly refuted by the athletes themselves. Calls for a unified riders association to protect Jorge Martin and other championship contenders are now growing louder than ever before.
