Charles Leclerc has firmly dismissed Isack Hadjar's assertion that Max Verstappen would have secured an even larger victory margin at the Singapore Grand Prix if he had been driving a Ferrari.
The commentary followed a dominant race weekend at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, where Verstappen claimed pole position for both the sprint and Grand Prix, ultimately converting them into victories. While the reigning world champion crossed the finish line 7.3 seconds ahead of Ferrari's Leclerc in second, Hadjar's remarks regarding Maranello's machinery sparked immediate discussion throughout the paddock.
Addressing the media in Austin ahead of the United States Grand Prix, the Ferrari driver rejected the notion that anyone outside the engineering department could accurately judge another team's equipment.

Well, first of all, I think it's nonsense to start saying these kinds of things. Isack has no idea what kind of car we drive, and I have no idea what kind of car he drives, Leclerc explained when asked about the comments.
The Monegasque driver, currently fifth in the championship standings with 215 points ahead of the final triple-header of the 2026 season, emphasized that the current grid is exceptionally tight. He noted that optimizing the overall package plays a far greater role than superficial car comparisons, especially with title contenders like Kimi Antonelli, George Russell, and Lewis Hamilton pushing the development race to the absolute limit.
