Marco Bezzecchi delivered a stunning performance in MotoGP qualifying at Aragon, securing pole position with a new lap record of 1'44.962, beating the Marquez brothers.
In Q2 at MotorLand Aragon, Bezzecchi became the first rider to break the 1'45 barrier at the circuit. His time proved unbeatable as Marc Marquez and Alex Marquez had to settle for second and third respectively.
Earlier, Bezzecchi had also topped FP2, showing his pace. In Q1, rookie Diogo Moreira surprised by advancing to Q2 alongside Francesco Bagnaia.
Bezzecchi Dominates at Aragon
The qualifying session was dramatic. Marc Marquez initially led, but a small mistake cost him momentum. Bezzecchi seized the opportunity, unleashing the full potential of his Aprilia to set the fastest time. From his first flying lap, he showed his intent, and on his second, he went even faster.
A late crash for Pedro Acosta at Turn 8-9 brought out yellow flags, disrupting other riders' attempts to improve. As a result, no one could dislodge Bezzecchi from the top spot.
With this result, Bezzecchi secures the front row for the Aragon Grand Prix, a valuable asset in his quest for a first win this season. The battle behind him promises to be intense, with Marc Marquez ready to fight back in the race.
