The premier touring car championship in Australia is officially set to make a triumphant homecoming to the iconic seaside venue. Supercars is scheduled to host its first official championship round at the historic circuit since the 2019 season, marking a major milestone for domestic motorsport fans.

According to reports published by the Herald Sun, the major deal was initially brought to light by Speedcafe back in May. The Victorian Government is formally set to announce the multi-year agreement later today following months of intensive behind-the-scenes negotiations.

The return of the premier category effectively serves as a direct replacement event following a major calendar shift. Victoria is officially losing the prestigious MotoGP motorcycle grand prix to Adelaide starting in the upcoming 2027 season, opening a crucial window of opportunity.

This strategic shift has allowed the touring car series to reclaim its historic spot on the racing calendar. Promotion duties for the high-profile weekend will be handled expertly by the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, the very same body that oversees the successful Formula 1 event at Albert Park.

Industry reports confirm that the newly inked agreement successfully locks the challenging seaside circuit onto the championship schedule through at least the end of the 2031 racing campaign.
