Marco Bezzecchi made perfect use of the MotorLand Aragon circuit. The Aprilia rider from Rimini was fastest in practice, setting a new lap record of 1:45.455. He narrowly beat the Marquez brothers, Alex and Marc, who were 10 and 38 milliseconds behind respectively.
The dominance of the leading trio was clear. Fabio Di Giannantonio, in fourth, had to accept a three-tenths deficit to Marco Bezzecchi. Meanwhile, all championship contenders secured direct Q2 spots, except one big name: Francesco Bagnaia.
Pecco, as Bagnaia is commonly known, could only manage 13th place. The two-time MotoGP world champion must go through Q1 to reach the main qualifying session. A heavy blow for the rider fighting to close the points gap in the standings.
On the other side, there was a heroic story from Johann Zarco. The French rider, returning from a serious injury sustained in a Barcelona crash three months ago, managed to break into the top 10. Zarco secured his Q2 ticket by 10 milliseconds over teammate Diogo Moreira.
More drama came from Jorge Martin. The championship leader had to settle for seventh, while Raul Fernandez and Fermin Aldeguer took fifth and sixth. The battle at the top is tightening, and all eyes are now on Saturday's qualifying.
Results and Race Prospects
Free Practice 2 is scheduled for Saturday at 10:10, followed by Q1 (10:50) and Q2 (11:15). The Sprint race starts at 15:00, with the main race on Sunday at 14:00 local time. With Bezzecchi's impressive performance, can he maintain momentum? And can Bagnaia recover from this setback?
