MotoGP, Sportrik Media - The Australian Grand Prix will officially relocate from Phillip Island to a new street circuit in Adelaide starting from the 2027 season, under an initial agreement running through 2032. The inaugural event in South Australia’s city centre is scheduled for November 2027 as part of the official MotoGP calendar.
The decision brings an end to Phillip Island’s long-standing tenure as host of the Australian round, a venue widely regarded as one of the fastest and most flowing circuits in the championship’s modern era. The transition to Adelaide represents a strategic shift toward an urban event model, with organisers describing the project as a “first-of-its-kind” street circuit for premier-class motorcycle racing in Australia.
According to the official announcement, the city-centre layout will comply fully with modern safety standards required under current FIM regulations. This includes the integration of extensive run-off areas, advanced energy-absorbing barriers, and revised corner geometries designed to meet homologation requirements without compromise.

The circuit configuration was unveiled in Adelaide by MotoGP Chief Sporting Officer Carlos Ezpeleta alongside South Australia Premier Peter Malinauskas. Preliminary details indicate a layout that utilises the city’s parkland surroundings, offering sufficient space to incorporate heavy braking zones and medium-speed corner sequences aimed at preserving overtaking opportunities.
From a commercial perspective, the move aligns with MotoGP’s broader urban expansion strategy, designed to enhance accessibility and fan engagement in major metropolitan areas. The Adelaide project is expected to combine top-tier sporting standards with city-wide event integration, maintaining the championship’s technical and safety benchmarks.
With the contract secured through 2032, the relocation is set to reshape the Australian round’s technical and strategic profile. Further details regarding final circuit specifications and the full 2027 calendar confirmation are anticipated following completion of the formal FIM homologation process.
