Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli stands on the verge of motorsport history in the 2026 Formula 1 season, holding a 102-point advantage over teammate George Russell following a strong third-place finish in Singapore. With six grands prix remaining on the calendar, the 20-year-old is within striking distance of securing the championship before the final five rounds.
To seal the title at the Circuit of the Americas on October 25, Kimi Antonelli must win the United States Grand Prix, with George Russell finishing ninth or lower, and Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton finishing no higher than fifth place.
A victory in Austin would propel Kimi Antonelli to 365 points. Crucially, his superior tally of nine season wins compared to George Russell's three would guarantee him the championship on countback should their points ever equalize over the remaining rounds.

This championship opportunity arose following a dramatic momentum swing over the recent triple-header. While George Russell briefly revived his title hopes in Baku, Kimi Antonelli fought back fiercely by collecting 38 crucial points across Malaysia and Singapore.
Despite closing in on the ultimate prize and securing his 14th podium of the season, the championship leader remains fully focused on the immediate task ahead. "Can I? Really? Let's not worry about that! Let's try to do the best weekends possible and finish the job," he stated.
