Adam Morgan wrote a sweet piece of history at Knockhill by winning the Race to Pole session in the British Touring Car Championship. It was his first pole in eight years, and it made Plato Racing the first team to score two Race to Pole victories in 2026.
Morgan was sublime in qualifying, topping Group 1 while home hero Gordon Shedden missed out by just three hundredths in Group 2. When the lights went out, Morgan's superb start saw him sprint clear through Duffus Dip.
Drama was never far away. Dan Rowbottom briefly got ahead of Shedden, but contact between them sent Rowbottom wide and Shedden back to second. Elsewhere, Josh Cook and Aron Taylor-Smith made contact, putting Cook's Corolla into the barriers at Butcher's and triggering a safety car.
The race, extended to 20 laps, saw spots of rain from lap 12. Shedden chipped away at Morgan's lead, but the defending champion held firm. Behind them, Tom Ingram made a brilliant move on James Dorlin at Clark's, sparking a battle that dropped Dorlin to 15th.
At the flag, Morgan took a fully deserved victory. Shedden held off Rowbottom for second, with Chris Smiley and Charles Rainford completing the top five. This result gives Morgan and Plato Racing a massive boost ahead of the main races.
