Nicolo Bulega and Ducati wrapped up the 2026 WorldSBK world championship season with a truly historic and flawless performance. The Italian rider's campaign throughout the year was practically unmatched, as he consistently finished on the podium while breaking numerous significant records along the way. Securing race finishes in either first or second position, alongside an incredible streak of Superpole accolades and fastest laps, cemented his status as the new dominant force in production-based motorcycle racing.

This absolute masterclass crowned the 27-year-old Italian as the Superbike world champion for the very first time in his career. Nicolo Bulega accumulated a staggering total of 726 points, establishing a massive advantage over Iker Lecuona, who finished second in the final rider standings with 563 points. Despite a less-than-ideal start at Phillip Island and a crash during the Superpole Race in the UK, the Spanish rider maintained a strong competitive form to help secure the team championship for the Borgo Panigale factory.

Total supremacy for the Italian manufacturer was further highlighted in the team standings. Aruba.it Racing emerged as the undisputed queen of the world championship with a combined total of 1,289 points, making them the only team to break the four-digit threshold this season. Meanwhile, Barni Spark Racing claimed second place in the general team standings and clinched the Independent teams' trophy for the second consecutive year, driven largely by the standout performances of Yari Montella, who also triumphed as the top Independent rider.

In the final manufacturers' championship, Ducati stood unchallenged at the summit of global motorsport, finishing ahead of fellow Italian-connected project Bimota with a massive gap of 458 points. The closing rounds also saw BMW fight its way to the third step of the constructors' podium by a razor-thin margin of just a single point over Yamaha, concluding a difficult campaign for other traditional Japanese manufacturers such as Kawasaki and Honda.
