Qualifying for the 2026 Moto2 Indonesian Grand Prix delivered high drama as Izan Guevara unleashed blistering pace to secure a historic pole position at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit. The Blu Cru Pramac Yamaha rider put immense pressure on his championship rivals with a stunning performance.
Carrying strong momentum from his victory in Japan last time out, Guevara topped Friday's practice before executing a flawless final run. Inside the last five minutes of the session, he clocked a sensational 1’ 31.963s lap, becoming the first rider to dip under the 1’ 32s barrier in Indonesia and shattering the all-time lap record.
While Guevara celebrated his fourth pole of the year, title rival Manuel Gonzalez endured a frustrating session plagued by visor issues and handling setbacks, ultimately qualifying down in tenth place—his worst grid position of the season.

Klint Forward Racing's Alex Escrig put in an impressive effort to secure second on the grid, finishing just 0.098s shy of the pole-sitter. Meanwhile, David Alonso bounced back strongly from earlier sessions to claim third place, leading the charge for Kalex in a fiercely contested qualifying battle.
With a brand new lap record established and the championship tension reaching a boiling point, Sunday's race promises an unpredictable and thrilling battle through the field at Mandalika.
