Antonio Felix da Costa has fired back at Porsche following the controversial team tactics that overshadowed the Formula E season finale in London. The Jaguar driver insisted that Porsche's complaints about his driving made the German marque "look stupid".
The drama began on Saturday in qualifying, when Porsche took measures to support Pascal Wehrlein in the title fight. All Porsche-powered drivers, except Andretti, deliberately let Wehrlein win. Then Nico Muller put in a bold defensive display in both races, prompting protests from Mitch Evans, who accused him of moving under braking.
On Sunday, Jaguar responded with a similar tactic. Da Costa deliberately over-consumed energy to get ahead of Evans, Muller, and Wehrlein, then made his Jaguar as wide as a London bus to keep the German driver behind. Wehrlein, who was eventually crowned a two-time world champion, was furious with his former teammate and fired a series of accusations after the race.

Da Costa admitted that the way he drove was not how he wanted to race, but he pointed out that Porsche's complaints were ridiculous given they had done the same thing all weekend. "It's not the way I want to race. But I didn't like seeing what they did on Saturday, and they started it again from lap one on Sunday," he told RacingNews365.
"Nico just opening the gaps in a bad way. When I saw that, I said, 'Okay, we had a plan B to react to that.' We simply did what they did. We played their game," he added.
"I know they're saying things; I haven't heard or read anything, but it just makes them look stupid, to be honest. You can't have it both ways. The Bible tells us to treat others like you want to be treated. So, it's very simple," the Portuguese driver said.
The rivalry between Da Costa and Wehrlein is well-documented. They spent three seasons as teammates at Porsche before Da Costa moved to Jaguar. The pair made contact in Tokyo last month, with Da Costa accusing Wehrlein of deliberately taking him out because his car was already broken.
"The past that we have helped me not have second doubts about driving this way. He's done things to me that I've been way too nice about. I'm a nice guy, but at some point, I have limits. I didn't get a penalty; I did nothing wrong. They can say what they want, but it just makes them look stupid," he concluded.
