Moto3, Sportrik Media - Veda Pratama of Honda Team Asia suffered a crash during Q2 of the 2026 Moto3 Spanish Grand Prix qualifying session at Jerez, significantly impacting his starting position for the race.
The Indonesian rider had shown competitive form earlier by successfully progressing from Q1, underlining clear improvements in single-lap pace. However, his momentum was halted in Q2 when he crashed while attempting to improve his lap time, preventing him from completing a full attack run.
The incident proved decisive, forcing him to start from the lower end of the grid. In Moto3, where races are heavily influenced by slipstream dynamics and group racing, starting position plays a critical role in maintaining contact with the leading pack from the opening laps.

At the front, Maximo Quiles of CFMOTO Aspar secured pole position with a strong performance in Q2. The Spanish rider demonstrated stability and precision through Jerez’s technical sections, particularly in rapid direction changes.
The front row was further strengthened by David Munoz and Alvaro Carpe of Red Bull KTM Ajo, both of whom showed consistent pace across the session. Their positioning places them in a strong scenario for the race start.
From a technical standpoint, the qualifying session once again highlighted the importance of slipstream management and precise track positioning in Moto3. With extremely tight time gaps, even minor disruptions such as traffic or small errors can have a significant impact on final results.
For Veda, the focus now shifts to race strategy, where the ability to recover positions through pack racing will be essential. Moto3’s characteristic close-group battles provide opportunities for progression, but require precise execution, strong race pace, and consistency throughout the race distance.
The Moto3 race at Jerez is expected to deliver intense competition, with slipstream battles and close racing likely to define the outcome. Starting from a disadvantaged position places Veda in a recovery scenario that will demand calculated aggression and effective race management.
