Tsunoda Misses Points at Zandvoort: 'A Shame, But I Enjoyed It'

Yuki Tsunoda returned to the Formula 1 grid with high hopes, but had to settle for 11th place at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort. The race, his first since Miami, left him with mixed feelings: delighted to be back in the fight, yet frustrated to see points slip away.

Tsunoda, called up by Racing Bulls to replace Liam Lawson—who moved up to Red Bull due to Isack Hadjar's injury—put in a solid performance. He finished just ahead of teammate Arvid Lindblad, whose race was compromised by a penalty.

“I did everything I could and enjoyed every moment,” said Tsunoda. “I missed being on track, racing wheel-to-wheel, and making overtakes. So, it was fantastic to experience that again. We were very close to the points and missed them by a whisker, which is a shame, but overall it was an incredible weekend.”

He also thanked the team for their support. “They backed me throughout the week. I was able to get up to speed quite quickly, so a huge thank you to everyone for giving me this opportunity. I'll take unforgettable memories from this weekend. Above all, I hope Isack recovers soon,” he added.

Lindblad, meanwhile, finished 12th after receiving a drive-through penalty for ignoring yellow flags. “We had a good start, but the penalty took us out of the fight. I just focused on keeping my line amid the debris. After that, I think it was one of my best races this year in terms of pace and battling. It's disappointing not to score points, but now we'll prepare for Monza,” he explained.

This result ended Racing Bulls' positive streak of scoring points in four consecutive races. The Faenza-based team now looks to bounce back at Monza, a circuit with a completely different character to Zandvoort.
