The season finale of the Super GT championship at Mobility Resort Motegi in Japan is set to witness a major milestone in global motorsport as the Toyota GR GT3 makes its highly anticipated competitive racing debut. The legendary Japanese touring car series will host a demanding double header weekend featuring two intense races, each spanning 250 kilometers around the challenging circuit layout.
For this crucial outing, Rookie Racing is officially switching classes in the GT300 division, moving away from their previous Mercedes-AMG GT3 machinery to campaign the new Toyota challenger. The car is officially designated on the entry list as the ENEOS X PRIME GR GT3 concept, utilizing high-performance tires supplied by Bridgestone throughout the weekend.
This landmark appearance follows closely on the heels of a successful shakedown test conducted earlier this month at Fuji Speedway. The newly constructed GR GT3 was put through its paces by Akio Toyoda's personal racing squad just prior to the championship's round at Autopolis.
Serving as one of the primary development drivers for the exciting new platform—which is slated for its official commercial customer rollout in 2027—Hiroaki Ishiura will share driving duties in Motegi. He teams up with promising factory junior driver Tokiya Suzuki to evaluate the car's initial setup and durability under race conditions.
The car will enter the competitive field under an "Open" participant status, meaning it is entirely ineligible for championship points. Consequently, race organizers have not published a specific Balance of Performance figure for the experimental machine during this developmental outing.
