Rookie rider Toprak Razgatlioglu recently celebrated his 30th birthday on Friday. Amidst the celebration moments, the Turkish star faces a challenging situation following a tough premier class debut campaign in MotoGP with Pramac Yamaha.
The career journey of the rider nicknamed El Turco was heavily shaped by his late stuntman father. After achieving phenomenal success in WorldSBK, the rider carrying the number 07 machine stepped up to the premier class, although he currently struggles with a Yamaha M1 package that lacks overall competitiveness.
A severe test struck Razgatlioglu last weekend at Mandalika. Following a heavy crash during FP2, he was forced to retire from the race after completing just eight laps due to a lack of strength in his previously dislocated right shoulder.
This physical condition has raised major doubts regarding his readiness for the upcoming Grand Prix at Phillip Island. Medical staff and team management are closely monitoring his recovery progress, including potential surgical interventions to ensure his complete physical rehabilitation.
Holding 18 points which places him 21st in the championship standings, the primary focus for the rider now shifts toward total recovery ahead of future campaigns. Should he be forced to skip Australia, Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez is expected to step in.
