Sergio Perez's future in Formula 1 has been firmly secured after it was confirmed he will continue racing with the American-backed squad until at least the 2029 season. The announcement of this multi-year contract extension comes ahead of the Mexican driver's home Grand Prix, providing definitive career stability following his return to the grid this year after sitting out the 2025 campaign.
Perez joined the team at the start of the current campaign, navigating a challenging opening year within the new motorsport project. The 36-year-old currently sits 23rd in the 2026 Formula 1 Drivers' Championship standings, having recorded a season-best finish of 14th place at both the Barcelona and British Grands Prix.
Reflecting on his new agreement, Sergio Perez shared his deep belief in the long-term vision of the American outfit, noting that extending his commitment feels like a natural progression of his journey with the organization. He emphasized that constructing a competitive Formula 1 outfit from the ground up requires immense patience and relentless effort, elements that continue to yield rewarding progress.
Perez added, "Building a Formula 1 team from the ground up takes time, relentless work and patience, but the progress we are making together is incredibly rewarding. There is still a lot of work ahead of us, and I am fully committed for the next three years. I want to thank Dan Towriss, Mark Reuss, and everyone at TWG Motorsports and General Motors for the opportunity to build on what we have started together."
