A demanding weekend unfolded for Sergio Perez at the United States Grand Prix in Texas, where the Mexican driver could only manage a disappointing 19th-place finish. This difficult outing further highlighted that Cadillac's current level of competitiveness remains heavily off the pace compared to the rest of the grid. With just five rounds remaining in the championship calendar, the squad stands as the sole team yet to score a single point, with their primary developmental focus seemingly shifted toward the upcoming regulations.
Despite enduring a challenging race weekend on American soil, the former Red Bull driver insisted that there are still silver linings to build upon as the team gathers vital telemetry data. “Unfortunately, it was a rather complicated weekend,” explained Sergio Perez reflecting on his 19th-place race result. “Overall, I believe there are positive aspects to take away from this. We just need to keep working hard and learning from this experience. A lot depends on the layout of the track; during the race, I was actually surprised to see that we were slightly closer to the others than anticipated, so we must keep making progress on that foundation.”
Looking ahead, the veteran driver is eagerly anticipating his highly anticipated home race in front of passionate local fans. “Now I cannot wait to arrive in Mexico. Racing in front of my home crowd is always something incredibly special, and this year it will be even more significant since I will be celebrating my 300th Grand Prix start,” he added, expressing excitement to share the milestone with his supporters.

Meanwhile, misfortune also struck the other side of the garage as teammate Valtteri Bottas was forced to retire his car just laps before the checkered flag due to a sudden technical failure. The mechanical issue triggered a Virtual Safety Car deployment, which inadvertently impacted the late-race battle unfolding behind the leaders involving Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.
Elaborating on the sudden retirement, Valtteri Bottas noted that the issue surfaced abruptly under braking for the opening corner. “The problem, presumably linked to the power unit, arose suddenly while braking at turn 1,” he stated. “The engine began emitting an unusual sound, and when I tried to accelerate, the power delivery became intermittent. Up until that point, everything was running according to plan with our split strategy.”
