Nicolo Bulega is closing a sweet chapter in WorldSBK with his 50th career victory, an emotional milestone before officially stepping up to the premier MotoGP class for the 2027 season. The Italian rider expressed immense pride in placing his name close to racing legends like Troy Bayliss following three highly competitive seasons in the production-based world championship.
In an exclusive interview with journalist Alba Casares as reported by Motosan.es, the newly crowned Superbikes champion reflected on his remarkable journey during his farewell weekend. I am very happy to have achieved this record before making the jump to MotoGP. It is fantastic to achieve a performance like today in my final weekend in Superbikes, he stated with genuine excitement.
The Borgo Panigale standout added that seeing his name near his childhood idol feels surreal. For me, it is already incredible to see my name so close to Troy Bayliss on the win list. It is something extraordinary, because I am only in my third season in the Superbike World Championship. It is fantastic to be close to one of my idols, he noted, downplaying any pressure ahead of the weather-affected final day.

From a technical standpoint, Bulega analyzed how on-track overtaking dynamics have evolved over the past three seasons due to fuel regulations. While the machine remains a joy to pilot, top speed straight-line advantages have shifted toward corner exit execution rather than sheer horsepower alone.
Looking ahead to the massive challenge awaiting him in the premier class by 2027, mental preparation and technical adaptation remain his top priorities. With the world title already secured, the Italian star is fully motivated to embrace his upcoming chapter on the world stage.
