Championship leaders Tom Hayman and Jett Murray aboard the #25 McLaren Artura clocked a blistering 1m14.7026s lap to top Friday afternoon's 40-minute session. The pair staged a remarkable turnaround after lingering down in an anonymous 13th position during the opening practice session earlier in the day.
The Woking machinery's supremacy was further underscored by Zac Soutar and Glenn Nirwan in the #75 McLaren, who once again set the benchmark in the Silver-Am ranks. They ended the day as the second-fastest outright, narrowly missing the top spot by just 0.13 seconds in a tightly contested field.
Flying the flag for the blue oval, Aaron Cameron and Lochie Dalton steered their #27 Ford Mustang to third overall. Cameron delivered a late-session charge to shoot up the leaderboard, just ahead of fellow Mustang drivers Cam McLeod and Jack Wallis in fourth.
Rounding out the overall top five were William Exton and Jack Johnson in the #128 McLaren, who had previously claimed the honors in Practice 1. The fierce midfield battle also featured strong runs from Toyota Supra and BMW M4 contenders as teams fine-tuned their setups.
Meanwhile, Randall Racing faced a frantic overnight turnaround after Jacob Lawrence suffered a spectacular crash in the #32 BMW during Practice 1. The heavily damaged car was transported back to the team's Melbourne workshop for extensive overnight repairs ahead of Saturday's crucial on-track sessions.
