Marc Marquez is on the right track to reclaim the MotoGP crown in 2026. With the Ducati Lenovo Team, the rider nicknamed The Baby Alien has shown remarkable consistency and steadily improving performance in the second half of the season, closely trailing the current championship leader, Jorge Martin.

As of the last race, the three-way battle for the 2026 world title has narrowed to three big names: Jorge Martin, Marc Marquez, and Marco Bezzecchi. Martin of Aprilia Racing leads with 263 points, followed by Marquez with 249 points (14 points behind), and Bezzecchi in third with 241 points (22 points adrift).

Despite being second, Marquez has collected 4 wins, equal to Marco Bezzecchi and far ahead of Jorge Martin who has only won once this season. This data proves that when Marquez finds his moment and comfort on the Ducati Desmosedici GP26, he has a winning capacity far higher than Martin's.

Looking at the trend over the last three races, Marquez has won two of the last three (finishing 1st, 7th, and 1st). This winning momentum provides a huge psychological boost to break the mentality of Jorge Martin, who has been less sharp (finishing 2nd, 5th, 2nd).

With the modern MotoGP format featuring a Sprint Race on Saturday and the Main Race on Sunday, a 14-point gap can easily be reduced in a single race weekend. If Marquez can sweep both races at one circuit, he can immediately take over the top spot.

However, challenges remain. Jorge Martin, now riding for Aprilia Racing, has proven very consistent in scoring podiums (6 podiums). He plays it safe and focuses on securing important points despite rarely winning main races. Marquez must avoid blunders or crashes to prevent the points gap from widening again.

Another threat comes from Martin's Aprilia teammate, Marco Bezzecchi, who lurks in third place, just 22 points from the top. Bezzecchi has the most podiums this season (8 podiums). This internal Aprilia battle could benefit Marquez, but Bezzecchi could also be a major stumbling block, stealing crucial points from Marquez.

Interestingly, Marquez's teammate, Francesco Bagnaia, is languishing in 8th place, 120 points adrift. This means Ducati Lenovo Team will likely deploy all team orders and full technical support to Marc Marquez as the sole hope for Ducati to defend the 2026 world title.

In conclusion, Marc Marquez's chances of becoming the 2026 MotoGP World Champion are currently very realistic and high (above 45%). A 14-point deficit is a very comfortable psychological gap for an experienced rider like Marquez. If he can maintain his impressive performance as in the last three races and Ducati can provide the best bike configuration without technical issues, then a ninth world title for Marc Marquez is no longer just a dream, but a very achievable target by the end of the 2026 season.
