Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies has firmly dismissed recent claims made by Christian Horner suggesting that the Milton Keynes-based Formula 1 outfit has lost its distinctive spirit and competitive edge since his departure.

Christian Horner, who stepped down in July 2025 after leading the team for two decades, had claimed during a promotional interview for his memoir Drive that the squad had lost its presence and vibe. However, Mekies used the official team principals' press conference in Mexico City to offer a starkly different perspective on the internal atmosphere.
While acknowledging Horner's extensive history with the organization and his right to an opinion, Mekies emphasized that the current environment tells a completely different story. The team boss highlighted the incredible resilience and unity demonstrated by every member during a turbulent opening phase to the championship.

Facing substantial hurdles on both the chassis and power unit fronts, the Milton Keynes factory channeled their frustrations into a relentless push for recovery. Mekies pointed out that maintaining a positive and fighting spirit is straightforward when securing victories, but true character is revealed when a team stands united under immense pressure.
Although the remarkable turnaround has rewarded the relentless efforts of the entire workforce, the leadership remains grounded. The ultimate objective for Red Bull continues to be the pursuit of world championship titles, ensuring that the relentless drive within the garage will not waver until the ultimate goal is achieved.
