Jari-Matti Latvala showed his class once again in historic rallying. Alongside navigator Janni Hussi, he was untouchable at the Lahti Historic Rally in Finland, setting the fastest time on all 14 stages. This was not just a win; it was a statement of near-perfect dominance.
The Jari-Matti Latvala crew in a Toyota Celica ST185 finished three and a half minutes clear of the nearest rival. Latvala's gravel form is clearly at its peak, and the result in Lahti further cements his status as a title contender this season.
Behind him, Irish BMW driver Marty McCormack had to settle for second place, while Finland's Marko Ramanen completed the podium in third with his Opel Kadett, almost six minutes adrift. The real battle was for the remaining positions, with drivers pushing hard for every point.

The victory moves Latvala into the lead of the gravel category in the FIA European Historic Rally Championship. He also won the Acropolis Rally earlier this summer and took victory on asphalt at the Costa Brava Rally in March. However, his season has not been without setbacks; he retired from the Costa Smeralda Rally in Sardinia after an off-road excursion, and the Ypres Rally ended with a transmission problem.
In Lahti, Austria's Kris Rosenberger finished fourth in a Subaru Impreza, followed by Ville Silvasti (Lancia 037) in fifth, and Czech driver Vojtech Stajf in sixth in a Toyota Celica. These results provide valuable championship points.
Latvala will be back behind the wheel next weekend when the championship continues in Linkoping, Sweden. However, Janni Hussi will not be alongside him on that occasion; Erno Kinnunen will take over co-driving duties. This change adds an interesting dynamic to watch.
