Lando Norris has completely changed his stance regarding the dramatic sprint race collision with McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri at the Marina Bay Circuit during the Singapore Grand Prix weekend.
The reigning world champion initially insisted that his late lunge at Turn 5 on the final lap was entirely justified. However, following a fourth-place finish in Sunday's main grand prix, the British driver offered a remarkably candid mea culpa and took full responsibility for the incident.
"I can't attempt what I did. I should never have attempted it in the first place, even if the move was on," Lando Norris told reporters in Singapore, adding that he must prioritize the collective interests of the team over individual ambitions moving forward.

The contact sent Oscar Piastri spinning hard into the barriers, whereas Lando Norris salvaged a solitary point by crossing the finish line in eighth place. Although FIA stewards reviewed the incident and opted against penalizing either driver, the fallout within the Woking-based outfit proved severe.
McLaren team principal Andrea Stella expressed intense frustration over the avoidable crash, explicitly stating that such on-track battles causing material damage are completely unacceptable as the team fights for crucial championship positions.
