Jorge Martin claimed victory in the 2026 French MotoGP at the Bugatti Circuit in Le Mans after a dramatic race that also highlighted the growing dominance of Aprilia at the front of the field. The victory became a major result in the ongoing MotoGP world championship battle.

The race began with Francesco Bagnaia starting from pole position for Ducati, but the Italian immediately lost momentum after suffering wheelspin off the line. That allowed Marco Bezzecchi to take over the lead during the opening laps.

Bezzecchi initially controlled the race while grip conditions remained highly unpredictable around Le Mans following a mixed-weather weekend. However, as the race progressed into the middle phase, the pace intensified and the front battle became increasingly aggressive.

At that stage, Martin, Bagnaia, and Pedro Acosta began moving toward the leading group. Martin looked particularly strong under braking into sector one and maintained the most consistent pace as several riders started struggling with rear grip degradation.

The decisive moment came on lap 16 when Bagnaia crashed while running in second position. The incident instantly ended Ducati’s hopes of victory and added further pressure to its championship campaign.

Several other riders also failed to finish the race in the difficult Le Mans conditions. Joan Mir crashed in sector four, while Brad Binder also retired. Alex Marquez and Diogo Moreira were also classified as DNFs.

Following Bagnaia’s crash, the race became completely controlled by the Aprilia trio at the front. Martin managed the gap effectively until the chequered flag, while Bezzecchi maintained pressure in second place throughout the closing laps.

Another major surprise came from rookie Ai Ogura, who delivered an impressive performance to secure third position. The Japanese rider once again demonstrated rapid adaptation to MotoGP machinery, particularly in low-grip conditions such as those seen at Le Mans.

The result further confirmed Aprilia’s major progress during the 2026 MotoGP season. The RS-GP package looked especially competitive in acceleration out of slow corners and braking stability, two key technical areas around the demanding Bugatti Circuit layout.

With Martin taking victory and Bezzecchi and Ogura completing a double podium result for Aprilia, the Italian manufacturer has now sent a serious warning to its championship rivals. Ducati, meanwhile, faces growing pressure to improve race consistency after once again losing crucial points through crashes.
