MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Jorge Martin of Aprilia Racing has warned that the team must be extremely cautious with setup direction at the 2026 Brazilian Grand Prix, citing the complexity of adapting to a new circuit in Goiania.
MotoGP returns to Brazil for the first time since 2004, with the event taking place at the Ayrton Senna circuit in Goiania. The layout, which features a high proportion of right-hand corners, is expected to present specific technical challenges, particularly in terms of load distribution, tyre wear, and overall bike balance.
Another critical variable is the tyre allocation from Michelin, which will introduce a broader compound range along with the stiffer rear casing used in Thailand. That configuration previously appeared to favour Aprilia’s RS-GP package, particularly in maintaining performance consistency over race distance.

Martin, who finished fourth in Thailand despite limited pre-season testing mileage, believes the team has a solid baseline to build upon. However, he emphasised that accurate feedback will be essential on a circuit where data is limited.
“I’m very excited to start on this new track, and I’m confident that the work done in Thailand gives us a good base for Brazil,” Martin said.
“We’ll need to be extremely careful to provide the right feedback, because a new track is always demanding and there are many things to get dialled in.”
He also highlighted the importance of collaboration across both sides of the garage, particularly alongside Marco Bezzecchi, to maximise the competitiveness of the RS-GP under evolving conditions.
“I think together with Marco’s team we can be competitive. I can’t wait to get to Brazil, it’s a country I really like,” he added.
Aprilia arrives in Brazil with strong momentum following Bezzecchi’s victory in Thailand. Across the Buriram weekend, the RS-GP package appeared among the most competitive on the grid, combining tyre efficiency with consistent race pace.
Bezzecchi also made history as the first Aprilia rider to secure three consecutive victories, continuing a run that began at the end of last season in Portugal and Valencia. Despite that form, he sits seven points behind championship leader Pedro Acosta, who has delivered a strong start to the season with KTM.
From a technical standpoint, the unfamiliar nature of the Brazilian circuit, combined with evolving tyre behaviour, places significant emphasis on initial setup direction. Misjudging early feedback could influence the entire development trajectory of the race weekend, particularly in conditions where grip levels and reference data remain uncertain.
Bezzecchi stressed that motivation within the team remains high despite the challenges ahead.
“I’m extremely happy to go to Brazil and curious to discover this new track,” Bezzecchi said.
“We want to have a strong weekend and work well. There is no lack of motivation in the team.”
With a combination of competitive momentum and technical uncertainty, the Brazilian Grand Prix represents a key test for Aprilia’s ability to maintain its front-running status. The team’s capacity to adapt quickly to circuit characteristics and tyre demands will be critical in sustaining its performance level as the 2026 MotoGP season progresses into its next phase.
