Jorge Martin: I'd Sign Right Now to Secure 2026 MotoGP Title

Jorge Martin has openly stated that he would immediately sign up to clinch the MotoGP world championship title with just a single grand prix victory. The Aprilia rider heads to the Indonesian venue as the championship leader, although his narrow advantage at the summit is now under severe pressure.

The battle for the world crown has intensified significantly after Marc Marquez relentlessly closed the gap, narrowing the margin to a mere two points behind the championship leader. Martin temporarily lost his lead at Misano when both riders were tied on points, before reclaiming the position a week later in Austria and defending that advantage through the Japanese round.

Arriving in Lombok early in the week to acclimatise to the high ambient temperatures following the demanding race in Japan, the Spanish rider confirmed that his physical and mental condition has fully recovered. Adapting to the thermal stress of the Mandalika circuit will present a unique challenge for both human endurance and machine reliability throughout the weekend.

While he genuinely enjoys the layout of the Indonesian track and remains confident in Aprilia's competitive prospects, Martin played down expectations of sweeping the maximum 37 points available across the sprint and main grand prix. He emphasized that achieving a maximum points haul requires absolute precision in tyre management, setup optimization, and constant vigilance against fierce competition.

"To get these 37 points you have to do many things, make the tyres work well, have a good setting, and the rivals are always strong. The Ducati riders are not stupid and they will surely have done something to make the tyres work well," Martin remarked regarding the recent surge of his primary championship challengers.

Consistency has been the cornerstone of his campaign after spending over a hundred days at the head of the standings this season, despite having secured only one grand prix victory so far at Le Mans. Acknowledging the extreme unpredictability and technical demands of the modern era, Martin remains entirely focused on sustaining his title challenge right down to the final checkered flag.

"If there is something that characterises me, it is that I never give up and I am going to get the most out of it to be in the fight until the end. If that is enough for me to win the world championship, it will be perfect, and if not, we will try next year," the Aprilia Racing Team contender concluded.
