WRC Finland 2026: Sebastien Ogier Leads Friday Morning

Sebastien Ogier completed Friday morning at WRC Finland 2026 in the overall lead after winning three of the four special stages and building a 5.3-second advantage over Adrien Fourmaux.

The Toyota driver showed a significant improvement compared with Rally Estonia two weeks earlier. His greater experience on Finland’s gravel roads was reflected in the times, while his reunion with long-time co-driver Julien Ingrassia also ran smoothly after Vincent Landais withdrew for personal reasons.

“It’s been going very well with Julien. This is certainly a difficult week for him, but so far he’s doing the mission like I was expecting,” Ogier said. “The feeling in the car has been good and I’ve been trying to push from the very beginning because the gaps are always very small in a rally like this.”

Ogier believes most of the leading contenders are already driving close to the limit. There are still sections where more can be extracted after the first pass, but he sees little additional margin because the pace at the front is already extremely high.

“I had my moments too — let’s just say I used the full width of the road,” Ogier said. “That’s how you have to drive here, and you have to accept that you need to take risks. If you’re not committed enough, you can’t be fast.”

Weather is the next factor capable of reshaping the battle. Rain showers are forecast for the afternoon loop, while the roads have developed deeper ruts and loose rocks have been pulled onto the racing line after the first pass.

Behind Ogier, Fourmaux remains the closest challenger, while Sami Pajari sits third, eight seconds from the lead. Hyundai has lost two other contenders after Esapekka Lappi retired and Thierry Neuville suffered suspension damage.

WRC Finland 2026 still has five special stages remaining on Friday, with Ogier entering the afternoon loop in the lead but facing both changing conditions and an extremely tight battle at the front.
